Experience

Dr Teng joined Ceramics Technology Centre, SIRIM in 1991 and currently holds as a Principal Researcher in the Industrial Centre of Innovation in Nanotechnology, SIRIM Industrial Research, SIRIM. He graduated from the University of Malaya in 1990 and obtained PhD in Ceramic Engineering from Brunel University, in 1997. He is the Chairman of the Malaysia Standardisation Committee on MS/ISO TC Fine Ceramics since 2001. He is an external examiner to FYP students of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. He is one of the Industrial Advisory Panel members for the International Islamic University Malaysia and ADTEC Taiping. He is a certified trainer (2018) for the HRDF programme, Technology Auditor (2016) for SIRIM-Fraunhofer Programme and Industry 4.0 Readiness Assessor (2019) under National Industry 4.0 Policy. His research areas are alumina and zirconia injection moulding, ceramic membrane for water filtration, electrospinning of nanofibre of nanoparticles of titania for photocatalyst application, hydroxyapatite for implant application, and ceramic hives for stingless bee farming. Besides conducting R&D projects, he provides consultation jobs on ceramic failure investigation and conducts training courses in the ceramic entrepreneur development programme. He has contributed 5 patents, one Industrial Design and over 100 journal/proceedings/ conference papers with an H-index of 18 and won several awards from ITEX, MTE, and PECIPTA Malaysia.
